Yonkers mayor fights for public school funding as budget deadline nears

According to Mayor Spano, with the current proposed state budget, Yonkers schools are facing the possibility of losing up to 200 employees who were hired during the pandemic.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano is continuing to advocate for funding for Yonkers Public Schools as a budget deadline approaches.
According to Mayor Spano, with the current proposed state budget, Yonkers schools are facing the possibility of losing up to 200 employees who were hired during the pandemic.
"New York has to find a way to help supplement these dollars so that we won’t lose these valuable services. We cannot propose a budget until we have a greater sense of what the state budget is providing us."
The deadline for the Yonkers Executive Budget is this Monday, April 15, pending approval of the state budget.
