A blaze at a Yonkers high rise left hundreds suddenly homeless and unsure what to do.
A four-alarm fire at Seven Pines Tower damaged dozens of floors Wednesday. It led to chaos that boiled over quickly, with no elevators, water or power before being partially condemned.
Residents say they had to leave or face a $1,000 fine. They say they were only given hours to leave, leaving them with a short time to scramble to wherever they may go next.
One resident told News 12 they were staying in the lobby until they found a place to go.
The city told News 12 that the Yonkers PAL is an option for the displaced, but residents say they were in the dark on that information.
Tenants also took aim even more so at building management, which they say is nowhere to be found. News 12's calls to management went unanswered.
So without answers to those big questions, hundreds took what they could and looked for a place to call home for now.
