Seniors in Yonkers will be receiving some upgrades to their health services without having to leave their homes.

The city of Yonkers and Westchester Jewish Community Services will be able to provide more health care monitoring, case management and transportation for seniors, thanks to a $200,000 state grant.
It's open to more than 4,000 residents 60 years and older who are unable to leave their homes in a designated area of Yonkers. The area runs from Central Avenue to the Bronx River Parkway and the Sprain Brook to the Scarsdale border.
Yonkers is the first municipality in Westchester County to be awarded the grant.

“Rather than saying well where can they go, we say, what can we do to keep them in the best place for someone who's aging which is right in their own home, that they're used to,” says Yonkers Deputy Mayor Jim Cavanaugh.
