Veterans were recognized during Sunday evening’s annual concert series in Yorktown.
Hundreds gathered at the Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Track & Field for the event, which is now in its 28th year.
Vietnam veteran Victor Garcia said he was honored by the recognition he received during the gathering.
"We're all together here as a family. Not only Vietnam, but you also have the WWII veterans and the Korea veterans. I enjoy being with them and being a brother to them,” he said.
As American flags waved proudly, performers onstage paid special homage to the U.S. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Marines.
"Being a veteran is special. A lot of the veterans saluted; they didn't pledge. I say if the president called me today, I would still go, even though I would need my walker,” said veteran Ed Stufano.
Family members like Stufano’s wife said they felt equally appreciated at the event.
“We have to gather around the veterans. It’s so important. I do as much as I can,” said Stella Stufano.
