Two dogs are now recovering after they were allegedly dumped outdoors and left to fend for themselves.
Dr. Reinemarie Willimann says a 3-year-old GG is as resilient as they come.
"She looks the way you find her. She's just very sweet," Dr. Willimann says.
GG was brought to Dr. Willimann's Veterinary Care of Mount Pleasant by the dog warden after allegedly being dumped in Sleepy Hollow and then hit by a car.
"They brought her and asked me to examine her. I examined her and promptly realized that she didn't break her back. She had broken her pelvis and her left front arm, completely," Dr. Willimann says.
GG sustained several other injuries and required surgery.
Not only was she injured, she was also missing her buddy, Houdini, who was also dumped.
"All the neighbors and all the community went out looking for the other dog. They were there late in the night in the park. They were on 117. They were walking all during the weekends trying to find this other boy dog," Dr. Willimann says.
Then, a dog trainer Rocco Autero got involved and took the search to the next level.
"I didn't have a good picture of the dog. I actually used ChatGPT to actually make an image of the dog's likeness and I set the yard signs up around the neighborhood," Autero says.
Calls started coming in and Houdini was eventually found.
He was severely underweight and was brought him to vet where he reunited with GG a few weeks later.
"It was great. He was very excited to see GG. I think she was also excited, but she's been through a lot," Autero says.
The vet says both dogs are expected to recover.
For now, GG remains at the vet while Houdini regains his confidence with his foster family.
