A 40-year-old inmate, in his third term at a state correctional facility, assaulted officers at Fishkill Correctional Facility last Thursday.
During security rounds, the inmate forcefully grabbed a female officer, hurling her to the ground and striking her multiple times in the ribs. A second officer intervened but was injured in the process.
A third officer joined the response, successfully subduing the inmate and applying restraints. The injured officers received medical attention, with the second female officer being transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
The inmate, suspected to be under the influence of an unknown substance, was transferred to Green Haven Correctional Facility. He is serving an eight-year sentence.
