A Rockland woman is asking for the public's help to find the driver who ran over a firehose connected to a hydrant last week and seriously injured her husband.

Rachel Ross, the wife of 37-year-old Jon Ross, says the hose became disconnected from the hydrant at Kings Highway and Maple Road in Valley Cottage and struck her husband. Jon was left with a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures.

The incident happened on June 9 around 8:20 a.m. He is still in Nyack Hospital.

It's illegal to drive over a firehose.

Rachel Ross describes her husband as “the funniest, silliest, most amazingly talented guy.” He has been a music teacher for the last 10 years at Bardonia Elementary.

She’s hoping a witness will come forward with footage or recollection of the incident.

"We have canvassed the area a little bit and there don't seem to be many cameras around,” she said. “But if there's a camera around that you can think of, down by Maple and Pinecrest and Kings Highway. We would love to see it. Maybe a dash cam."

Clarkstown detectives are trying to find the driver and encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 845-639-5840.

For now, Rachell Ross says her family is “taking it day by day.”
