The New York Cosmos are opening the gates of historic Hinchliffe Stadium to the next generation of fans, announcing a new initiative Thursday that provides free match tickets to every high school student in Paterson.
The program is designed to remove financial barriers and allow local students to experience professional soccer in their own backyard. Hinchliffe Stadium, a recently renovated landmark deeply rooted in Paterson’s history, now serves as the home pitch for the legendary club.
“This initiative is about creating access and opportunity for students in Paterson,” said Baye Adofo-Wilson, managing partner of the New York Cosmos. “As someone who was born and raised in Paterson, I know how important it is for kids to be inspired in their own community.”
Tickets can be claimed through the official New York Cosmos ticketing platform or at the Hinchliffe Stadium box office, where students must present a valid Paterson school ID. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis for each match.
Paterson Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laurie W. Newell praised the partnership, noting that it provides students with a unique way to connect with and take pride in their city. “This opportunity gives our students a chance to experience something new and take pride in their community right here in Paterson,” Newell said.
The initiative is part of a broader commitment by the Cosmos to invest in the Silk City and build a local supporter base. By inviting students to represent their schools at matches, the club hopes to foster a vibrant matchday atmosphere at one of the most storied venues in American sports.
Paterson high school students are eligible to begin claiming their complimentary tickets immediately for upcoming home matches.
