A Morris County man was killed early Wednesday in a crash involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Roxbury Township, state police said.

Shawn Burckure, 52, of Andover, was driving a Jeep SUV east on I-80 when he lost control at about 4:20 a.m. in Roxbury Township, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Police said the vehicle ran off the roadway to the left, traveled through an emergency U-turn area and hit the end of a guardrail.

After the initial collision, the Jeep continued forward into the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling west on the highway.

Burckure was killed in the crash, authorities said. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
