Arrest made in fatal shooting of Valley Stream man in Queens

The NYPD says, following an investigation, they apprehended and charged Joseph Gilbert Stevens, 33, of The Bronx.

A man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a Long Island man in Queens.

As News 12 reported, Richard Carter, 49, of Valley Stream, was shot and killed on Apr. 10 in Jamaica, Queens.

The NYPD says, following an investigation, they apprehended and charged Joseph Gilbert Stevens, 33, of The Bronx, for murder and possession of a firearm.

Police say Stevens shot the victim multiple times in the torso, at the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and Sayres Avenue, around 2:30 p.m. that Friday.

Carter was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

There is no word on a motive at this time.
