66-year-old Stamford resident critically injured after being struck by vehicle

Police say it happened at approximately 2:04 p.m. in the area of Strawberry Hill Avenue and Colonial Road.

A 66-year-old Stamford resident was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon.

Police say it happened at approximately 2:04 p.m. in the area of Strawberry Hill Avenue and Colonial Road.

According to investigators, a 2014 Toyota pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old Stamford resident was traveling southbound on Strawberry Hill Avenue when they made a left turn eastbound on Colonial Road and struck the victim who was attempting to cross.

The pedestrian suffered a life-threatening injury. EMS transported the victim to Stamford Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.

The driver was issued an infraction ticket for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

No additional charges had been filed as of Saturday evening.
