Residents in Woodlawn say scooters are being left parked in front of their homes, creating frustration and raising safety concerns throughout the neighborhood.

A Woodlawn resident recently posted photos on Facebook showing Lime and Bird scooters parked on private property. Neighbors who spoke with News 12 say the issue has become increasingly common, especially near the Metro-North station.

“It’s dangerous, it’s sloppy,” one resident said.

Another neighbor added, “It’s irresponsible. They do it at night, when they come home from work late.”

Residents say commuters often use scooters to travel to and from the Metro-North station before leaving them on sidewalks or directly in front of homes. Some neighbors say the scooters block pathways and can become hazards for pedestrians. Just last week, a woman fell after tripping over a scooter.

In statements to News 12, both Bird and Lime said they are working with the city to improve parking compliance and reduce complaints.

The companies say they use patrol teams to reposition improperly parked scooters and may fine or ban riders who repeatedly violate parking rules. Lime also said Woodlawn could be added as a higher-priority patrol area.
