Divers locate fisherman 20 feet down after he disappears in Weston river

According to officials, Weston EMS, Fire, and Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:21 p.m. following a 9-1-1 call reporting that a fisherman had gone under the water.

Emergency crews in Weston responded Sunday evening after a 27-year-old fisherman disappeared underwater at Devil’s Glen and did not resurface.

According to officials, Weston EMS, Fire, and Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:21 p.m. following a 911 call reporting that a fisherman had gone under the water.

The Weston Volunteer Fire Department entered the river and conducted an initial search but was unable to locate the victim due to river conditions. Mutual aid was then requested.

The Norwalk Police Department Scuba Team began dive operations upon arrival. At approximately 8:26 p.m., divers located the victim about 20 feet below the surface.

Weston EMS immediately provided medical treatment before the victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital in life-threatening condition.

All emergency units cleared the scene at approximately 9:15 p.m.

The victim has been identified only as a 27-year-old man. His name has not yet been released publicly.

The incident remains under investigation by the Weston Police Department.
