A Yonkers man was killed Friday night after being ejected from an overturning vehicle in a violent crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 8:11 p.m. Friday, along the highway's northern outer roadway in Middlesex County.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Ford van was traveling northbound near milepost 75.5 in South Brunswick when the driver suddenly lost directional control of the vehicle.
The van veered off the roadway, struck the left guardrail and violently overturned.
State troopers confirmed that a front-seat passenger in the van, identified as 28-year-old Juan Ramirez Mejia of Yonkers, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Mejia sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that despite the severity of the rollover, no other injuries were reported from the scene.
