People all over Westchester County will be gathering to watch the New York Knicks take on the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Local police departments want to make sure everyone is celebrating safely.
One watch party took place at the Westchester County Center. Westchester County police had officers inside and outside the venue. Everyone also had to walk through metal detectors.
Game night in White Plains also came with a bigger police presence.
"Not out of fear or anything. Just because there is a lot more people out who want to enjoy watching the Knicks play,” said Deputy Commissioner Joe Castelli.
Yonkers police say they'll have an increased presence around train stations and the local bars.
"We know people are expected to be there a couple hours early because of some VIPS, so we're going to have people at the train station probably around 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. to make sure everyone gets on the trains and gets down safely," said Yonkers Police Detective Lt. Frank DiDomizio.
He adds that officers will be at the train stations after the games as well.
For those taking a train into Manhattan, MTA says that they can expect increased patrols on the trains going to and from Manhattan on game days.
