A large fire brought dozens of firefighters to the scene of a home in Tarrytown, where crews worked to bring the flames under control.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at a two-family home on Highland Avenue.

About 75-100 firefighters from Tarrytown, Irvington and Greenburgh responded, with trucks lined up along the narrow road as crews worked the scene.

Officials say the main body of the fire has now been knocked down, though smoke continues to rise from the home.

Firefighters were seen working from ladders and attacking the fire from multiple angles.

Radio traffic indicated there were difficult conditions inside the home due to clutter.

There were also early concerns that a person may have been trapped on the second floor, though officials have not yet confirmed that information.

Despite the flames being knocked down, crews remain on scene continuing overhaul operations and monitoring for hot spots.

Conditions are especially challenging, with heat and humidity adding to the demands on firefighters in full gear. one firefighter had to be taken away on a stretcher but was alert and talking.

Officials have not yet released information on injuries or the cause of the fire.
