25 displaced after fire destroys multifamily building in Yonkers
More than two dozen people were displaced after a multi-family home in Yonkers went up in flames Friday.
Officials say the fire started around 6:30 a.m. at 31 Riverview Place in the Nodine Hill Section on the west side of the city.
Authorities say 65 firefighters were on the scene, with six suffering from minor injuries but expected to be OK. They say the firefighters were able to contain the fire.
Authorities believe the fire sparked in the back of building near the porch. All seven apartments were significantly damaged. The Red Cross is assisting the residents who no longer have a home.
The landlord says he hopes to have the home's 25 residents return in about three months, if repairs are done by then.
