A new grant is aimed at revitalizing downtown areas in towns and villages throughout Westchester County.
Earlier today, County Executive George Latimer (D) announced the county will be accepting applications for the new Downtown Improvement Grant Program.
Beginning Thursday, towns and villages in the county can apply to receive up to $250,000.
The funds will go toward creating an action plan to recruit new businesses and attract new residents. "We want to understand what moves those decisions to have those folks select Westchester or stay in Westchester and how do we support those downtown areas," says Latimer.
This pilot program is part of the county's Business FIRST initiative.
Four municipalities will be chosen and will work with a professional consultant.
