Visitation for Patricia Espinosa, the off-duty Nassau County killed Saturday in a suspected DWI crash, has been announced for Wednesday, Feb. 4 at St. James Funeral Home.

Law enforcement agencies and elected officials have been expressing their condolences for Espinosa since the crash on Saturday morning.
The Nassau County PBA released a statement:
“Officer Espinosa was the heart of a true law-enforcement family — her husband Francisco Malaga, and her two brothers, Christian and David Almeida, all who proudly serve as police officers — and she leaves behind a two-year-old daughter Mia, who will grow up knowing her mother was a hero."
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said he was "heartbroken" to hear about the crash and remembered "marching with her in the Puerto Rican Day parade."
Suffolk County police say Matthew Smith was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Alexander Avenue “when he failed to stop at a red light and struck a 2019 Alfa Romeo traveling westbound on Route 347 at 6:06 a.m.” He was charged with DWI. It was not immediately clear when he would face a judge.
