Hudson Valley activists protested Friday in Washington, D.C. over the use of fracked gas at the Danskammer Power Plant in Newburgh.
Danskammer is currently proposing to build a new facility in Orange County to meet the demand for power after Indian Point shut down.
A representative for the company says, if approved, the new facility would result in lowered emissions and utility bills.
