Attorney General Letitia James' office says it did not find any wrongdoing by the Spring Valley police officers who were involved in the death of a Spring Valley mother a year ago.

In January 2020, Tina Davis went into cardiac arrest moments after she was Tased by police. Officers say she was resisting arrest and gripping an officer's neck after allegedly menacing residents and smashing car windshields.

Davis's family says the 53-year-old had a history of drug abuse and mental illness.

Now, investigators for the attorney general say there are several concerns about the handling of the incident.

They're issuing a number of recommendations to the Spring Valley Police Department, including additional training for officers on handling individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

It was also recommended that every Spring Valley police officer wear a body camera.

An attorney for Davis's family released a statement on the attorney general's findings saying they will review the report and supporting evidence and will release a more detailed public comment early next week.
