The NY Blood Center is holding an emergency blood drive at St. Augustine school in Ossining to help deal with a recent drop in donations.
Offcials say someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets every two seconds and approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed each day.
However, the nonprofit organization says cold weather and flu season has resulted in a decrease in donations.
They are in desperate need of all blood types, especially type O blood.
Donators can get apple juice and cookies until the event ends at 2:30 p.m.
Residents can receive texts about future blood drives by going to nybc.org.
