Storm Watch: More rain and storms are on the way

A threat of rain will move in overnight, potentially leading to flood issues.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
A storm system will move in overnight, bringing rain to the area, along with a threat of downpours and thunderstorms.
The rain is expected to arrive between 9-10 p.m. tonight. The heaviest will fall between 1-4 a.m. There could be rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, which could lead to localized flooding.
Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties are underneath a flood watch. The alert is in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the latest. There could also be chances of flash flooding. That will be a higher concern for Orange & Rockland Counties. As this system pulls away, the bulk of the rain threat will wrap up around 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be a solid 12-hour period from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m.
Saturday, where rain will fall at a vigorous rate. For the Saturday midday hours, expect sunny breaks but also a stray shower or isolated storm to pop up as the system moves away.
Through Saturday afternoon, a dry and breezy northwest wind will move through in the system's wake. Cooler temperatures will move in overnight for several spots, with lows potentially going down into the 40s.
Sunday will be a very nice day, with breezy winds at times and partly cloudy skies. That is the day to get out and about for any weekend activities. The winds will back down and the sun will return in full force for the first half of next week. Temperatures will also gradually be moving upward through next week. FORECAST: OVERNIGHT: STORM WATCH - Cloudy with moderate to heavy rain along with isolated thunderstorms. There will be a chance of localized flood concerns developing. Lows: Mid- to upper 50s.
SATURDAY: STORM WATCH (a.m.) - Mainly cloudy, with rounds of rain in the morning hours. There will be some sunny breaks followed by a chance for a pop-up early afternoon storm. Highs: Upper 60s to low 70s. Lows: Mid-40s.
