Arts Westchester in Greenburgh is raising concerns over federal funding cuts that could strip up to $8 million from the county's arts and cultural sector.

The threat stems from recent terminations of federal grants by the Trump administration.

Westchester's nonprofit arts sector contributes about $180 million annually to the local economy and supports more than 2,000 cultural jobs.

The CEO of Arts Westchester said the loss of federal support could jeopardize programs across the county.

"We should really be increasing our investment in arts and culture because the arts are not just about aesthetics, they're about community, and they support a variety of sectors," said Kathleen Reckling.

As Arts Westchester launches fundraising efforts and advocacy campaigns, leaders say they remain committed to preserving the county's cultural vitality.
