New York Assembly Member Jonathon Jacobson is asking the Public Service Commission to take action against the Central Hudson energy company.
It comes after months of unanswered questions from customers who say their bills have skyrocketed in recent weeks.
At least one customer claims they had a bill for over $700,000.
A Central Hudson spokesperson issued a statement to News 12:
Central Hudson implemented a new customer information
system in September 2021 to replace our legacy billing system. While there have
been challenges associated with this transition, Central Hudson has devoted
tremendous resources to identifying system issues and implementing fixes. The
vast majority of our customers received accurate and timely bills throughout
the system implementation process. As we adapt to the new software, we expect
that there may be future isolated problems affecting individual accounts that
we will address on a case-by-case basis.
The Public Service Commission currently has an open
matter looking into Central Hudson’s billing system. We have been open and
transparent with the PSC as well as state and local lawmakers up to this point
and will continue to be.
