The attack in Iran is having an impact on gasoline prices, according to AAA.
Brian Sinclair, a AAA spokesperson, told News 12 that prices are going up because of the price of crude oil - not due to a supply chain issue.
“There will be a price impact, but not a supply impact,” said Sinclair.
Sinclair said New Yorkers were paying the lowest price for gas in four or five years.
The national average is up about 11 cents since last week, according to Sinclair.
On Monday, the average was about $3 a gallon in the city, which was up four cents from last month.
But Sinclair said the U.S. has plenty of gas to go around.
“There will be no problem with the supply of gasoline,” said Sinclair. “We’re insulated as far as supplies are concerned from the rest of the world.”
Sinclair told News 12 that gasoline is still cheaper than a year ago, and there is no need to panic buy and have long lines at the pump.
