Members of the Suffern High School baseball team took the field yesterday for the first time since two of their players were killed in a car crash.
The team held a memorial service before the game in honor of Vincent Crotty, 18, and Christopher Konkowski, 17. The two best friends died March 30 on their way to baseball practice when their car slammed into a dump truck.
The fathers of the two boys threw out ceremonial first pitches of the season and embraced their sons' teammates. The numbers of both teens have been retired.
A candlelight vigil was held on the field following the game.
