WEATHER ALERT: Elevated fire risk for eastern Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties in effect for the rest of the day. Relative humidity levels near 30% and frequent gusts around 20 mph will create an elevated risk for fire spread across the region.

I hope everyone loved the "spring-preview," with temperatures soaring into the mid- to upper-60s recently.

Those temperatures are more typical for early May rather than early March. Temperatures will cool down later tonight as a dry cold front passes by.

Wednesday morning has temperatures cooler than we have seen in the past several mornings. Expect a mix of sun and clouds through the day with temperatures continuing to be cooler for Thursday morning. It shall be the coolest day of this week, with temperatures topping into the mid-40s (but that is where we should be this time of year, with an average high of 46 degrees).

Friday sees the temperatures starting to move up again with that trend continuing into the weekend.

As the temperatures rise, so will the chances of rain as a large system moves into the Northeast on Sunday and Monday. Ahead of its arrival, a cloudy day is expected on Saturday with breezy winds at times. As a result of that, temperatures will not feel that warm sadly.

Rain moves in by Sunday midday, falling in batches for the rest of the day and into the overnight hours. By Monday morning, the showers will be wrapping up, mostly closer to daybreak. We should see a fairly dry rest of the St. Patrick's Day holiday with temperatures trending into the 50s.
