The Bed-Stuy Aquarium currently has no fish due to the cold weather.
A spokesperson tells News 12 that the aquarium is resting, but big plans are coming. They add some of the fish are staying at a local koi pond.
News 12 previously reported that the Bed-Stuy Aquarium had plastic coverings, heated lamps and filtration systems to help with the cold temperatures.
News 12 spoke with people in the community who were sad to see it dismantled especially around the holidays, but say it's understandable as the aquarium is now covered in snow.
News 12 also spoke with Floyd Washington, one of the founders of the pond, who says he hopes the aquarium can bring the joy of the holiday spirit year-round.
“What we try to deliver was joy and peace and love to everyone where people come together and we accomplished that - that’s our biggest goal. The fish are gonna be OK, you're gonna see them again," said Washington.
A spokesperson for the aquarium says they plan on building something more permanent early in the new year and also plan on adding school and community engagement programs.
