The Mama?s Boy restaurant in Bellvale wants to expand its operation a bit by offering more chairs and tables. The only thing standing in the way is the post office inside of it.

Within the eatery, the Bellvale post office houses 250 mailboxes and the people who get their mail there say the location is convenient.

But the restaurant owners? wishes, coupled with the town?s financial struggles, may force the post office to shut down.

Bellvale post office officials have provided alternatives; residents can either sign up for delivery from the nearby Warwick branch or travel three miles further to the Greenwood Lake branch to get their mail.

But the people who get their mail at Mama?s Boy say neither plan is suitable. Around 150 postal customers have signed a petition asking for their boxes to stay put.

The restaurant?s owners say they won?t kick the post office out, but will move the lease to a month-to-month basis until a decision is made.
