Jeff Bezos' short trip into outer space has inspired kids here in the Hudson Valley to embrace the world of science - in and outside the classroom.

Drone Cadet co-founder Grace Cantwell taught kids at Challenge Camp in Hartsdale to have a launch of their own Tuesday.

The kids can't fly rockets like billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos just yet, but maybe someday. 

Adhijay Arvind is just 11 years old, and says he watched the historical rocket launch and 11-minute flight Tuesday morning - and flying drones is something that he can do now that will help him one day achieve his dream.

"It just shows that space tourism can be for anyone no matter what the age is," he says.

Tuesday's launch inspired the kids to not only reach for the stars, but to also realize that their dreams of space exploration is not only achievable but maybe more affordable when they get older.

"If we can get to space and make it economical then you can go to space and go to other planets and eventually live on other planets, I'd assume," says 12-year-old Max Smith, of New Rochelle.

Cantwell, who teaches kids how to fly drones, says she makes it fun and gives them an opportunity to use their imagination.

"We use drones as a vehicle for them to carry their imagination through the next generation to what is impossible will become possible," she says.
