Blauvelt residents say they are on high alert after four coyote sightings in just two days.
One of the sightings happened right in Matt Olson's backyard. Olson says his daughter spotted the coyote on Wednesday, and that it stayed around his house for awhile.
Officials say coyotes rarely attack people, but recent attacks on children in Rye and Spring Valley are still fresh in the memories of many Blauvelt residents.
Wildlife biologists say coyote sightings are likely to become more frequent in the area as buildings go up and food supplies for the animals are diminished.
Officials are now telling residents to stay especially alert at dusk and dawn when coyotes are most likely to be on the hunt for food.
