Worshippers gathered at St. Mary's Ukrainian Church in Bridgeport Sunday to mark the three-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Father Stephen Masliuk spoke to parishioners at his Sunday service about "the urgent need to stand in solidarity with Ukraine."
"I am terrified of what is happening. I'm confused by our government, and by governments all around the world, because they're all trying to do a little something, but they're not giving Ukraine enough of what it needs to stop the war," Masliuk told News 12.
Masliuk's call for unity comes at a time when President Donald Trump has not stood with leaders of both parties as they agreed about the need to support Ukraine.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who spent Sunday attending Ukrainian rallies and churches across Connecticut, said there was uniform support for Ukraine among every group he spoke with.
"The people of America want to stand with Ukraine, not abandon or surrender it because their fight for freedom is our fight," Blumenthal said.
