Two Garnerville brothers have filed a complaint and may sue over the alleged slow 911 response that cost their mother her life.

Marjorie Hobbs, 84, was having difficulty breathing Saturday night. Her adult son Jim says he grabbed his cell phone and called for help, but it took responders 30 minutes to arrive.

"I had to call three or four times," says Jim Hobbs. "They kept asking me for my address and I would say, '21 Captain Shanky Drive in Garnerville,' and she started asking me if I was in Westchester numerous times."

Haverstraw police disagree with the family's claim that it took 30 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, but add that they are investigating. Rockland 911 says it received two of the 911 calls and dispatched a Haverstraw crew within minutes.

Officials are looking into whether the other calls actually reached a Westchester dispatcher, wasting precious minutes.
