A stretch of busy King Street in Rye Brook, closed due to an accident, has finally reopened.

King Street had to be shut down between Glenville Road and Bishop Drive South at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police a multicar accident occurred at the location that is right on the New York-Connecticut boarder.

Investigators say one of the cars hit a telephone pole causing it to snap. Several people were pinned in the car and first responders had to work to get them out.

Three people were taken to the hospital, one with a serious injury. No word yet on the cause of the accident.

The roadway reopened just before 5 a.m. and about 18 hours after the accident occurred.
