A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and knocked unconscious on Bronx River Road in Yonkers on Sunday evening.
The incident happened around 5 p.m., when a man was seen crossing the street as a car sped through the intersection. Surveillance video obtained by News 12 appears to confirm that he was already in the crosswalk when he was hit.
Yonkers police later confirmed the collision and said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. They said the driver remained at the scene.
Chris Topher, an eyewitness who rushed to help, told News 12 he saw the man lying in the middle of the road near the entrance to the nearby park.
“I made sure nobody touched him,” he said. “I made sure police were called because I’m not certified to do anything. I didn’t want to move him and make things worse.”
Paramedics transported the victim from the scene. His condition has not yet been released.
It was not immediately clear if the driver would face any charges. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
