There are new quarantine guidelines for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The CDC says you do not need to quarantine if you are exposed to someone infected with the virus.
The new guidelines apply to people who:
  • Are fully vaccinated, and it has been at least 2 weeks since their final dose.
  • They are within 3 months of receiving their final dose.
  • They have remained asymptomatic since their COVID-19 exposure.
Doctors say that, even if you're vaccinated, you need to be cautious. While you can move around freely after being vaccinated, doctors say people can still get infected by the virus and have it in their upper respiratory airway. Being vaccinated means your body has the antibodies to fight it off. So while you may get the virus, it just means you may not get sick.
Doctors say that even people who have been vaccinated still need to be wearing masks.
The CEO of vaccine-maker Johnson & Johnson is now suggesting COVID-19 variants may mean an annual shot will be needed for years to come.
