A chemical leak turned part of Fishkill Creek milky in Beacon on Monday, according to city officials.

The city said the discoloration came from aluminum sulfate released from the water filtration plant on Liberty Street.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation is working to confirm the leak has stopped. Investigators also want to determine whether any fish were harmed.

Officials said the leak poses no threat to humans.
