Child hit by car in Montgomery expected to make full recovery
Police say the child was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center following Thursday evening’s crash.

A child is expected to make a full recovery after being struck by a vehicle in the Village of Montgomery Thursday evening, according to police.
Village of Montgomery police say officers were called to Union Street near Charles Street around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a child hit by a vehicle.
Police say the child, whose age was not released, was conscious, breathing and alert when officers arrived and was able to speak with police about what happened.
The child suffered abrasions and bruising to the legs and face and was taken to Orange County Airport before being airlifted by Medevac to Westchester Medical Center for an internal trauma evaluation.
Police say a preliminary investigation found the child crossed the roadway while one lane of traffic was stopped and entered an oncoming traffic lane as a vehicle approached. Police say the vehicle was traveling at a low rate of speed when the child was struck.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Authorities say the driver showed no signs of impairment. As of Friday, police say the child is expected to make a full recovery.
