A looming strike for thousands of cleaning and custodial workers across the Hudson Valley appears to have been averted.
The Services Employee International Union has successfully negotiated a new contract with its employer, aiming to prevent the intended walk-out.
This agreement impacts around 10,000 cleaners across the tri-state area, with 4,000 members in the Hudson Valley. The new contract outlines several beneficial provisions, including a 4% wage increase, expanded health care and pension access, as well as additional holiday pay.
The final step involves the members voting to ratify this agreement in the upcoming weeks.
