Co-op City Peace officers may strike when their current contract expires at midnight on Tuesday. The Police Benevolent Association (PBA), is the union that represents the officers, says it has been negotiating with the building?s management for four weeks and has been unable to come up with a viable agreement. They say the Riverbay Corporation wants to cut down on staff and freeze pensions. The officers are responsible for the safety of nearly 55,000 Co-op City residents and area businesses. Their job is to make sure the streets and buildings are safe and secure, and make arrests when needed.
