The Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance says it wants to negotiate a Community Benefits Agreement that will guarantee Bronx residents, who will be employed at the future mall, living wages and union protection.
Members of KARA say they also want to ensure that the refurbished building complex will include a recreational space for the surrounding schools and communities.
The Alliance had scheduled a public hearing at City Hall Thursday to vote on tax breaks for the construction companies involved in the project. However, the vote was postponed until the Community Benefit Agreement is finalized.
A public hearing vote on the proposed tax cuts was rescheduled to March 11.
