A playground once used by the children of tenants at the Edenwald Houses is now surrounded by fencing.
The playground area has now become a dumping ground for garbage, glass and debris. The play equipment has been ripped out of the concrete ground. Residents say it?s been this way for five years.
Tenants say they are waiting for $1 million worth of improvements that Councilman Larry Seabrook (D-NYC) secured. According to Howard Marder, of the New York City Housing Authority, the monies were allocated for the development of a community center at Edenwald, not the playground.
Seabrook's office says it's working to set up a meeting with NYCHA to discuss the problem.
