Police are investigating a party at a Newburgh motel that left people beaten, robbed and stabbed early Monday morning.
The event, which employees say was booked as a Sweet 16 party, was held at the Knights Inn on Route 17K.
The motel staff says it tried to break up the party after things got out of hand, but say that only made things worse. They say it caused broken windows, destroyed furniture and numerous fights in the crowd of more than 200 people.
Newburgh police responded along with six other departments as backup to try and control the situation.
Once the party was dispersed, police say they found two people who had been stabbed. The victims were transported to the hospital.
Officials say one man, Augustine Martinez, was arrested at the party. He was also hospitalized for serious injuries after being attacked by a police dog.
