A couple married 58 years who had not been in the same room in almost a year were finally reunited Wednesday.
Harriet and Jerry Shenkman first met on a blind date at a Manhattan Jazz Club in their early 20s.
For the last year, they have been separated by a window due to COVID-19 and could only talk via Zoom.
Jerry has memory issues and lives at the Bristal in White Plains, and visitors were not allowed in due to COVID-19.
"I'm just very delighted that finally visiting opened up and that I'm able to see him, and I realized that I have to take every opportunity because in this unprecedented time, you never know if the visiting is going to be prohibited," says Harriet.
Harriet will be receiving her COVID-19 vaccine on Valentine's Day.
