The father of a Middletown boy who was sexually abused by his babysitter spoke out Thursday, urging parents to be cautious when hiring a caretaker.
The father, whose name is not being reveled to protect his son's identity, says the 10-year-old boy came to him and revealed that he had been molested by his babysitter, 21-year-old Brandy Decker, of Port Jervis.
Decker was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday after admitting she had several sexual encounters with the boy between 2007 and 2008.
"You may think you have them protected, but you don't," the father says. "Just step up the game. Protect them more. "
