Several agencies have set up In Mamaroneck to help as people all over Westchester try to recover one week after Ida.

FEMA, the Red Cross and the Department of Social Services have set up a mobile disaster recovery center at Mamaroneck Village Hall on Mount Pleasant Avenue

Each agency specializes in specific areas, including immediate cash, food stamps, finding a place to stay and business loans.

"There are things that the county, and the town and the village and the state can do to help people like get garbage off the streets. But what FEMA does is the main event, it's the money that helps people put their lives back together," says Westchester County Executive George Latimer.

It doesn't matter where in the county you live - anyone with flood damage can come to register to get help.

For FEMA assistance you can register online, but for Red Cross and social services you need to come in person to register.

"We know it's a lot of information, that's why we're here. We know this takes patience. We're trying to make this a coordinated system so people can feel confident that they will get seen," says Margaret Kaufer.

Please note, there is no mobile disaster recovery center at the Westchester County Center.
