A Montgomery doctor is facing federal charges Monday after being caught up in an illegal prescription drug ring.
Police say Vladimir Andries, a doctor at Orange Regional Medical Center, was one of five doctors arrested after writing electronic prescriptions at the request of an internet drug business. Federal authorities say the doctors wrote electronic prescriptions without ever visiting or meeting customers.
Police believe the ring netted $75 million. Dr. Andries, who also maintains a private practice on Route 17-K in Montgomery, is resigning from Orange Regional Medical Center. He is being charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
