Domestic violence charges against the City of Newburgh mayor’s identical twin brother, Torrino Harvey, could soon be dismissed after the woman involved in the case asked to drop the charges, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Harvey was charged by Town of Newburgh police with assault and criminal obstruction of breathing in August of 2022 during an alleged incident inside a Newburgh hotel in August of 2022. He was also charged with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging property.
Prosecutors say the case resulted in an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal in January after consulting with the complainant, and a full stay away restraining order was issued to the woman - which remains in effect for one year.
Mr. Harvey reached out to News 12 last week alerting us to the case resolution which prompted our inquiry to the district attorney’s office to confirm the update.
“I’ve had my day in court and all charges were dropped,” says Harvey.
The ACD is in effect until January 2024, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
