A Tompkins Cove family of six who lost everything in a fire last week is sharing their appreciation for the support.

One of the family members, Natalie Linden, tells News 12 the fire happened last Saturday while she was at work.

According to Linden, she rushed home the moment she received her brother’s phone call. "I couldn't find anybody, and you could hear explosions," says Linden of Tompkins Cove.

All members of the family were present, besides Linden. All five people survived.

"My family was so brave, they got out of it,” says Linden.

The mother of three wants to give a shoutout to the person who captured her children being carried to safety.

"Whoever that wonderful man was, thank you," says Linden.

It’s taken the victims a few days to return to the scene with the reason being too painful to see the place they once called home, in pieces. 

However, Linden says she is still grateful for the outcome, saying in part, "The only thing I needed got out of the house, which was my family."

Within a week, donations began to pour in from the community. 

Linden says her family has received so many donations that they were able to rent a storage unit while they search for a new place to live.

"It’s truly amazing, you don't think you’re ever going to get this type of support,” says Linden. “It’s just overwhelming and appreciated.”
